Squads, Standings and Match
play information will be added soon.
A day of confusion and low scores, but when the dust
settled it was John Ferretti who was left standing on 11 and 12 to
conclude the 32nd New Year Scratch Classic. John had to beat 5
of the best during match play on the cold Sunday afternoon.
Some of the favors fell early in the bracket of 24. Adam
Philps, Adam Barta and Jeremy Crist we're the first to fall in round
one. The biggest shock was when local Mike Shady fell in the
2nd round to Brian Chec. Non-Exempt Billy Oatman qualified in
the top 8 which had a first round bye. He fell to Ferretti in
the 3rd round. When Ferretti was matched against Brian Chec
qualifying leader for the day if was a battle. It came down to
the tenth when ferretti needed the first 2 strikes in the tenth to
win the match. Wolcott rolled over the field coming through
the bracket shooting a blistering 798 for his three games to the
final. Wolcott had to beat local Ryan Avione to get to the
finals. Once again the finals come down to the tenth with
Ferretti who had a chance to shut Wolcott out. Ferretti's
first ball in the tenth smashed a solid ten pin, spare and 8 gave
ferretti 210. Wolcott needed a double to to take the classic
but came up short on his first ball leaving a 2 pin and a 197 game.
For the 10th straight year taking 24 to match
play has been easy thanks to some of the greatest bowlers in the tri
state area. With only a handful of local who dare to try one
of the toughest oil conditioned tournament in town, With the help of
New Yorkers and Ohioens taking 24 to match has been a great
accomplishment for the 32 year old tournament. Just in the
past 3 years, a new tournament director has been able to guarantee
the $1000 prize for first place not based on any number of entries.
I just want to thank all of the great bowlers who came out and made
this year another great year. Thanks
